Braelangwell was well equipped, and very easy to find, just a quick hour drive from Inverness. With the river right on the doorstep and access to some of the most special fishing locations, it is simply one of the most memorable places I have visited. No end of fascinating scenery, wildlife and lengthy walks amongst the hills and mountains behind the lodge. Even on very bad weather days the house was cosy with fireplaces and various forms of entertainment to keep you busy until the sun comes back.

It's a fishing lodge leased during fishing season as I understand it. The appointments are lovely, the owners most accommodating and the gillie (caretaker); well, you couldn't ask for a nicer person, helpful in any way you can imagine and not leaving you feel guilty for bothering him. I needed a winter break from Glasgow life and this spot couldn't possibly be surpassed. Don't come here if you are an atheist and want to remain of that mindset. God's beauty is everywhere and a more beautiful canvas you will not find, even in nature's winter sleep. FYI: Below I didn't check for people with disabilities and families with children because it is primarily a fishing lodge and as I understand, booked fully for parties of salmon fishermen aficionados and I think quite a lot or annual repeats (but check, it's worth it!)
